Oh to be an Adult!
I am just going to start this think off saying that yesterday was most definately my birthday! Yes that is right, I am officially an adult, about to be poor because I now have to pay full price at the movie theatre. I really dislike that fact, I could afford going to the movies more when I was in highschool than I can now - I didnt have to pay for my education then!!! The prices should be as follows:
- Children under 5 should be Free (They always sleep through the movie so why should they have to pay?)
- Children ages 5-12 should be $8 (They're parents pay for them to go so it doesnt matter if they pay a little more)
- Youth ages 13-17 should be $10 (They either babysit or have a part time job and NO bills to pay so they can afford to spend money)
- Young Adults ages 18-25 should be $5 (They are usually going to college and are up to they're ears in debt! Movies are possibly their only chance at life away from reading books!)
- Adults should pay $10 (They have full time jobs and really could be doing better things with their lives other than watching movies)
- Seniors should pay $12 (Now usually they get the discount.. but seriously, they have pensions and can afford to throw away their money!)
So there you have it... that is why I think that the movie theatres have it all wrong!!! But back to my main point.. I am an adult now, and its kinda crazy - I am not sure what I should do?!? Maybe go to Alberta, get drunk and then get married? Cuz I am old enough in Alberta to do those things. Nah, Im gonna stay here where it is safe to wait another year to drink and alope! And I am not exactly in a rush to drink either - so really it makes no difference that I am 18 now.
Now, This weekend was definately sweet. I went to the Alpha Reatreat at Rock Ridge Canyon in Princeton. Took a bunhc of youth from our Youth Alpha program and we had a grand ole' time! basically eating a lot of chocolate - which now disgusts me when I look at it. We had FIVE 750g toberlerones... and over 20 chocolate bars! PLUS we had some really good foood there. Which reminds me, I need to go for a run today!! Haha. But the weekend was a blast, I would encourage ANY of you readers out there to check out the Alpha program.
On Sunday I went to Annie's house and watched League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Pretty much the dumbest movie I have ever seen.... well besides Ultraviolet (thanks to Dave btw for making me sit through that horribly cheesy movie!). But apart from the cheesy action movie - we had some good girl talk! [girl talk is awesome! i feel bad that guys dont have girl talk]. Yesterday I didnt get much sleep. I wondered around my house for most of the morning and then went out for lunch with my step-dad. Immediately following that, I went to a music store where I played with stringed instruments for over an hour! Only leaving with these words from the salesman, "I think you should keep your guitar and maybe try to learn how to play it before you buy a banjo." HAHA I'll show him that I can play stringed instruments! (I really cant tho).
So Pretty much today was a gong show cuz I did not sleep much last night and most DEFINATELY did not want to wake up for my 8am class this morning. Which by the way.. my Galatians prof STILL doesnt know I am.. AND he spent the weekend at the same retreat as me! So silly! Crazy old man. I hung out in the Collegium a lot and read so more of that awful NT Survey textbook! Its very bland - no humor in the writing whatsoever. BLAH
Im going to depart from this computer now to get some food before I head to my next class. I hope you college students think of me next time you go to the movie theatres and pay a rediculous amount of money for a movie that you cannot afford to see more than once! (and if you are a young adult and can afford to go to the movies, perhaps you should take us college students out too! We need a break from BOOKS!!!)
