Communication
"I know you believe that you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure that you know that what you heard is not what I meant!"
Well, that about sums it up. I was just studying for my Marriage and Family final the other day and I came across this quote from our communication unit. Thought it was funny at first, but then it really began to make sense to me. I mean seriously - some people just talk so dang fast that you cant make out what they are saying. Or you get those people who are SO quiet that you think they say words that they didn't. Then you get me, I am a mix of everything - Becase of my femaleness, I tend to think about 500 words a minute, and I try to say about half of them, and well things just come out strange. Like right now, I am typing so dang fast that my fingers are probably going to fall off any second!
Communication is so important between people tho. I have really been learning this lately, cuz people get upset when you dont share things with them that you think, and then you think that they can just read your mind and so when you refer to something that you thought, they dont know what you are talking about and you get all upset and they are all uptight about the fact that you didnt share your thoughts with them in the first place. Its confusing, I know. And most of you guys probably know what I am talking about cuz girls thinks so much we we cant keep track of what we told you guys and what we didnt!
I am also learning to verbalize things a lot more. If I don't say something then it is not going to get done! Some people call this complaining, but I call it constructive assertiveness. For example, if I go to Timmy Ho's and order a large french vanilla, and I get a medium English toffee, someone is going to hear about it! Its not like im mean about it, I just tell them what I think, and expect the correct beverage to come my way. Some people misuse this system for personal gain, and that is down right rude! Like if their pizza is 10 minutes late because the pizza guy got stuck in bad traffic on the way to their house and they demand your pizza free, yea that is very rude! They had the money, and that guy probably has to pay out of his own pocket because of them, or he just has to disappoint his managers, yea that is not cool. Making people feel bad is not right. OR here is a good one, people that sort through clothes in stores to find the one with the missing button, then they demand 25% off because of the button that would really only take them 10 seconds to sew back on! That is stupid, go grab another freakin sweater and stop trying to cheap people out of their business!
As you can tell, I have some strong ideas about things and when I get going, I can come up with a million and one things to say about it. But onto bigger and less exciting things. My life is finally at rest right now. I just finished my last exam this morning and im FREE! Yes, time to sit on my but, eat chocolate and get fat over the holidays (im kidding, im acutally gonna do stuff to fill in my empty days). But I am excited. Its time to work as much as possible, get my car fixed and enjoy the next four months of possibly avoiding work :P By the way, if you know anyone who is hiring in abbotsford for part time reception, or retail or something - i have Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to work every week! Yep, if you understand that, I only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays next semester. I think I worked that one out pretty well.
As for Christmas Holidays, I am still working out whether im gonna head out to GF for New Years, or stay in Abbotsford and do nothing - Its quite a toss up (not!). I'll only be working for another couple weeks, and then that will be done and it will be time to vacation before I look for work again.
Well I do believe it is time to go bake cookies! Merry Christmas (ive learned that in December you are supposed to say that whenever you say goodbye to someone).
