Choosing a Mate

I feel lied to. I was always under the impression that if I went to bible college (bridal college) that I would meet some fantastic christian guy and get married. However, I have been at Columbia Bible College for about two months now, and I am still very single... in fact, I am more single now than I was before I started! But the more I am at bible college, the more I seem to be learning about guys... acutally some things more than I want to know thanks to Marriage and Family! haha. But really, Guys are complex creatures. Well acutally, they arent complex, us women are complex and they are simple.. the only problem is that when we women try to understand them, we think they are complex and completely miss the target we are aiming at!

Its not that I am saying they are simple minded.. its just (well maybe I am), but you see they do things, and we take them so much further into thinking they mean something when really, guys mean what they say/do and nothing really deeper! There is almost nothing between the lines so stop looking women! I do apologize if I am offending any men reading this blog, but I am pretty sure no guys acutally read this! We should be okay.

Now that we all understand the basics of the male and female (well I hope all you women understand yourselves) minds, we can decide how to choose a mate. If you dont understand yourself, then stop looking for someone else to complete you! A relationship cannot be 50/50.. rather it should be 100/100! You both need to be complete people! Most of us would like to think we are complete, but we probably arent. Here is a test:

1. Take out a piece of paper, or open up Word
2. Write down 10 things that you would look for in a mate
3. Are you finished?

Okay, so now that you have done that... re-read the list and ask yourself if you are all or any of those things you wrote down? If you arent, then you need to work on that before you can enter into a relationship! My theory is, when we look for someone, we look for them to complete us, so in all reality, what we look for are what we are missing in us! Bet you didnt know that!... (if you did, then dont hate me for saying that, I did not mean to hurt your feelings). You ever wonder why the backstreet boys are singing that song "Incomplete", well its cuz one guy (probably nick because he is the player) got dumped and is now confused because his 'other half' is missing! That could have been avoided if he had been a whole person when he entered into that relationship!

Okay, so I bet your sick of me telling you relationship advice. Probably because you realized at the beginning of this blog that I am single.. thefore I couldn't possibly know anything about relationships... HAH Are you ever wrong! Take Marriage and Family and see what it does to the ole noggin! Its a good class, and like I said, I am learning far more than I need to know at this point in my life! (all you married people know what im talking about!)

Today was very interesting... I woke up bright and early and pretty much went to class and then RUSHED to my job interview at Friesen Equipment! Hehe... I got the job, it was great! I get to start in about a month and its basically a one month job (full time) and may extend to more than that, but we'll see at the end! So, if ya'll need to buy any John Deere stuff, you know who to talk to (thats me, btw.. if you are extremely slow). The rest of my day was almost lame... except this one part where I went to pick up my sister from work in Aldergrove. It went something like this:

I was waiting, and then she called me and said she was going to be about 20 minutes late.. so she suggested that I drive down into downtown aldergrove and get some Timmies while I wait... Well, that was all fine and dandy till I went to leave the Timmies parking lot! I thought I got back onto the Fraser Highway, but acutally I was driving down 264th and ended up at the Aldergrove Boarder crossing! Haha, who the heck gets lost in Aldergrove?!?! So I called my sister and she directed me back to where I was supposed to pick her up, and in the end, I was late picking her up! Haha, So word to the wise.. Dont ever give me directions and expect that i'll get there safely!

We had a sweet bible study tonight at Renita's house. Pretty much was convicted big time while I was sitting there listening! Seems as tho that has happened to me three times this week now, and I dont want to deal with it! Gah!. I think this means that God's trying to work in my life and Im not listening.. so Im gonna be working on that one - perhaps get all that wax out of my ears so I can walk in faith as I should be doing every day! You can pray for me if you feel the urge. I am going to get some shut-eye for now, and you probably wont hear from me until Sunday. I am going to Camp Luther to work at the Boofest youth retreat! WOOHOO! Take Care Ya'll!

Palindrome

I was playing around on some websites and decided to look and see if there is such a thing as a "random word picker".. and wouldnt you know it... There is! I found this one site that you acutally type in three letters a first letter, a letter for the middle of the word, and an ending letter and it scans the dictionary to find it. But after finding this one word, i decided to go to Dictionary.com and look it up to see what it meant. And while I was there, I found out that this site ALSO does random words, but they have one for each day - dating back to 1999! Today's word was strange.. "Crabwise".... you can look it up if you want to www.dictionary.com but the word that i really found funny was Palindrome! It means a word, phrase, sentence or verse that reads the same backwards and forwards. For example, "Madam, I'm Adam". HAHA.. Cracked me up, I had no idea that Palindrome was the name for such phrases.

I cant think of how that can relate to anything I am about to talk about, but who cares! It was entertaining to me. Today was pretty much the most annoying day of my life! So I wake up, like i do every day, at 7:20 to drive my little sister to school. But Wednesdays are special because I dont have class until 2:30, so I like to go back to bed once I get home in the morning! (My bed is always still warm too!) But today, I decided that I would just sleep for a few hours so that I could get some things done this morning - like go tanning and read. HOWEVER... I woke up and rolled over to look at my clock that read "1:10pm"! I could not believe it! How on earth could I have slept that late?!?!?! My first thought was that my grandma had come into my room and changed my clocks as a joke, but then I realized that I dont think she knew I was even home! So I was rather angry with myself for wasting my precious day.

But thinking back, I was really tired from not getting any sleep on Monday night, and then Tuesday was a late night as well (coincidence... I was at Tim Hortons Both nights after school events). So it made perfect sense that I was tired this morning and therefore could sleep in so freaking late. Now, I have ranted enough about my anger towards my inner clock.. So the rest of my day was alright. We had a speaker come to my Marriage and Family class to talk about - well im not sure cuz I think he just talked about everything we already knew, it was kinda lame. But after I went for a nice half hour run and headed out into the pouring rain to pick up my sister from work! I got lost cuz I went a different way. (Word to the wise, when you are on schedule, do not change your driving routes unless you are POSITIVE you know where you are going, otherwise you could end up in the middle of nowhere and be completely lost!) I didnt end up being late, but it was stressful driving in the dark, gloomy rain. I was very rushed to get going and my sister ended up being late, so we didnt make it home in time for dinner.

I dont think I ever want to be a Chauffer... I strongly dislike driving people everywhere, because I have to co-ordinate my schedule with other peoples'! I was almost late for Youth Alpha tonight, but lucky me, so was everyone else! It was a good night tho. And believe it or not I am already tired - I have only been awake for 9 hours! And also I have a job interview tomorrow morning! So pray for me please! (It is at 10am).

Let me leave you with this one question... "Which came first, the chicken, the egg, or the farmer?" (you really dont have to answer that)

Fluffy Hot Chocolate

Have you ever wondered why people put marshmallows in their hot chocolate? It is simple.. Marshmallows make hot chocolate fluffy. Today I had a nice cup with colorful mini marshmallows... so dang good!

So this weekend was fantastic! ish... Friday I planned on finally unpacking from camp! (Yes i know, its been a month and a half since ive been home!) But then I got side tracked... I ended up going with my mom to the ferry to pick up my Grandma, who is staying with us for a week. We went to Greek Islands restaurant for dinner.. and oh my goodness it was some good food!

Saturday was cool. I woke up at 0445 to drive my mom and step dad to the air port! It was nice cuz I got to drive my moms SUV and its really fun to drive and then I went home and went back to sleep. The rest of the day involved me sitting on my rear and taking the day off. Then I went to Church at Northview and afterwards me and the girls (Andrea and Heather) went to BP for a girls night! That was a gong show - I never knew how many people from my old wrestling team went there on a saturday night! We had a hot tub at Heather's house, then Andrea went home and Heather and I stayed up playing cards, waiting for a couple boys to finish their guys night and come hang out... long story short... Josh was too tired when he realized what time it ACTUALLY was when he got back to town! lol

Sunday (today) was good.. nice and easy day. I went to Mountain Park Community Church and Carly joined me there. It was cool cuz I got to connect with a lot of people that used to go to my old church (Alderbrook), and people from pines too! After a great service... I headed home and had lunch and played cards with my Grandma. Shes good at cards, I can never seem to beat her! But when my sister got home, I whooped her but at Spite and Malice. We had a nice family dinner tonight too, my older sister came over and we had this really yummy sausage thingy. (you'd think we were mennonite or something... eating sausage!)

So tonight is mostly studying, I am taking a break right now.. and probably heading to bed after this cuz I am dang tired from last night! But tomorrow I am definately studying some more. Midterms are half way through and I am still alive! PTL!

So until next time... Never phone a boy while he is at a Battalion function - you'll usually get made fun of!

M-I-D T-E-R-M-S

I dont have much to say today, other than to tell you how much I dislike midterms! Today I had a midterm exam at 8am, Guess what time I got up to study at? Thats right 7:30! To my horror, I rolled over in bed to look at the time and almost cried! No time to study, I had to get my but over to CBC (across town) IN TIME! I got there at 7:59 and started at 8:00... it was sick. I prayed through the whole thing!!!

But besides these awful exams... I have written FOUR papers this week... I am finished for a little while.. I have no more book reviews.. but I do have some other papers that still need to be written. I think it will be safe to say that things are gonna slow down after next tuesday.. then it will be time to start visiting people again! I have not gone out for coffee in a very long time! (Stephanie was my last about a month ago). Well I do apologize for my absence/grumpiness over the past month and a half... I hope that next semester will not look like this as well! lol

I gotta go guys, time to study for the Mid Term I have this afternoon! God Bless

Fake Nails and Dr Pepper Slushies

Well this week sure went by fast. Looking back, it seems like I accomlished little in that time! Although I did not make many friends... and I only wrote one paper, I think that it was a good week.. And to be completely honest wtih you, I dont even remember what I did most of the days!

So yesterday was the bomb! I got up early, went for a rollerblade. Now, I used to rollerblade like 3 times day back in the day, but now.. I didnt realize how much energy it really takes. I was dying out there! Not to mention, near the end.. I broke one of my rollerblades!!! And it wasnt even mine! Stupid wheels fell off.. haha - nothing that a bolt wont fix, but I dont have the right size right now... so Im rollerbladeless (not that im complaining.. because it just reminded me how very out of shape i am!). So after htis glorious escapade... I wrote a 1300 word paper (I think it turned out quite well too). That was crazy too.. never though I could acutally write that well under pressure! Then I went for this cool walk with Danielle, that turned into us driving to some random road out in Bradner, and taking her little foldable scooter down hills! haha.... SO MUCH FUN! I reccomend that you all get scooters... but they have to be the "Razer" brand!

Today was cool though, I slept in, and then watched this sick show on tv called "Amierca's Princess"... HOW MANY REALITY TV SHOWS CAN THERE REALLY BE?!?! I am so utterly disgusted with that. I dont even know 1/3 of them... heres what ive heard of:
  • America's Princess
  • Americal's Next Top Model
  • Trading Spouses
  • Survivor
  • The Amazing Race
  • Fear Factor
  • American Idol (Canadian Idol.. ect)
  • Extreme Makeover

Then there is all those home decorating shows.. and the list goes on! Who cares about other people's lives... are we forgetting about our own? Are we REALLY that boring? Why dont we ask ourselves why our lives are so boring? (Duh, cuz we spend all our free time watching reality tv shows!). Guh!

Back on track now, I finally got dressed and went over to my sister's house - where we proceeded to put on artifical nails, and drink dr pepper slushies (well at least i had one.. actually only half of one). Good ole times!

Then the fun REALLY began! I went to Bellingham with a van full of 5 girls and 1 guy! I got to use my passport for the first time too! So much fun! We went to this ice cream place and I got a huge ice cream cone for $0.85!!! it was dang good too! Then we hit the shopping mall! It was prob the most challenging time for me... I only spent $12.49!!! Im so proud of myself... you see all these reality tv shows make me want to buy new stuff, and so the pressure is on when I get to a shopping mall... hehe.

We had dinner around 9:30 ish, and we went to this place called "Round Table Pizza" (at least i think that is what it was called... i really dont know). But the food was delicious, and the service was hilarious! See, it was a gong show watching the guys at the till try to figure out the exchange rate and stuff.. so we ended up telling them - and they just decided to go with what we said! And long story short, one of the guys showed particular interest in me, and by the end of the dinner... he invited us all to an "after-work" party! haha. I kindly turned him down, saying that we had church .. ect.. but that started this whole conversation about college and accounting... haha and he pretty much made me promise id come back to visit! haha. American guys are very interesting, i'll prob go back just cuz it would be a gong show and a half! Anyone want to come?

Alas, it is time for this long blog to end - I dont think that anyone acutally reads these (judging by the amount of comments i get!) So, umm... ITS OVER!

Oh Glorious Rest

Im sorry guys, Ive been WAY too lazy to blog this week. But Im sure nobody noticed, cuz I acutally don't think that anybody reads this. Haha. So this weekend was pretty much amazing. Not gonna lie, Ive been going through some rough stuff lately and so the rest I received was muchly needed. So my weekend started out like this:

Thursday was a grand day. Full of classes - which were very long and I couldn't wait to be finished so that I could go home and rest before departure on Friday morning! HOWEVER, (heres the clincer) Ryley decides that It would be much better to leave Thursday night instead. I really wasnt expecting this, but after running into him a few times that day - it was settled. Funny story too - im pretty sure that within less than 4 conversations, our departure time went from 7am friday, to 6am friday, to 10pm thursday, to 8pm Thursday!... lol And even funnier, Ryley showed up to pick me up at 7:30pm Thursday. (I think he really wanted to go).

The trip was fun. Listened to lots of country music. (sorry Dan, I know you dont like country... but its a road trip must) We crashed at the Jepsen's house Thursday night, and I slept on the couch! Which ended up acutally being a room upstairs cuz I got moved at some early hour in the morning cuz day care kids were coming! lol. After having fruit loops at the same time as the kids had lunch... we went for a hike! (Ryley, Mike and Jordon) I gotta say, im pretty much out of shape! We hiked up Pheonix Ski area and had a fire at the top... nothing like hot dogs plain. Some good times were had there, then we headed back. We had dinner at the Trainer's house and then I headed back to the Jepsen's to wait for Andrea and Heather's arrival.

Friday night was KGB! And me and the girls got to ride on the back of quads! It was a fun time. A few hours on a quad (sitting on the rack) was good, but left my bottom a little bruised. We (me andrea and heather) stayed at the Chursinoff's Friday night. And I had an awful fight with the coffee machine saturday morning! Yes, we now all know that I CANNOT make coffee! Devin made us some yummy breakfast, then left us for fishing! haha. We went to the Fletcher's house that afternoon and played some good ole' football with Kyle and April! It was really sweet to see April again, I do miss that girl!

Saturday night, we went to the Trainer's house and had thanksgiving dinner! It was sooooo dang good! That night we had a giant bon fire at Hummingbird and im pretty sure we burnt a roof and a bird condo, and some other random things. That night was spent at the Trainer's house. Such good sleep! We went to church the next morning, and it was a great service too! Probably the best one id been to at the Gospel Chapel! Sunday was the truly restful day. We baked peanut butter cookies, and Sharon Trainer took us girls for a walk down by the river, and we took some sweet pictures. Then had dinner, and went to the Jepsens to play Scene It.... Im REALLY bad at that game... We lost badly. Monday night was also spent at theTrainer's house.

The trip back on Monday was good. Listened to more country music and read pretty much every sign on the way back! If any of you know what im talking about.. there's a sign just before princeton that is bright yellow and says "Real Estate? Call Dean" There is acutally no word "Call" but its a little telephone! lol.. its amazing! I text my family that every time I pass it!

So there was my thanksgiving in a nutshell. Going back to school on Tuesday was brutal, I fell asleep through most of my morning class... and it was a boring day. Today tho, I slept in... got to have HARVEST CRUNCH CEREAL! WITH 2% MILK! OH man, soo dang good. Tonight I had Youth Alpha, and that was fun. Although, our table was really distracted with the talk of road kill. haha. I went to Wal Mart afterwards, and played. I tried on LOTs of perfume and hats! haha... one of the best times i ever had shopping by myself.

Well, lets hope tomorrow is a good day. There is lots of work ahead of me. I still have three papers to write before next weekend.. and im part way through the reasearch! And for anyone who acutally read this... Bless You.

Don't Run With Scissors!

Do you remember when you were a kid and your parents and teachers would tell you "never run with scissors"... but the thought never really crossed your mind until they mentioned it to you. Since then you were forever wondering, "Why Not?" Well... I wasnt really going anywhere with that story, but the funniest thing happened to me today. So im heading to my first class this morning... 8am! and I go to open the door (i was gonna hold it open for the guy behind me), and instead of actually opening it properly, i grabbed the handle and swung the door RIGHT into my head... lol giving me the goose egg of my life.

So my week has been pretty fantastic. Yesterday was especially awesome. I had fallen alseep accidently at 8:30pm on tuesday night... and so after a fabulous 11 hours sleep, I went to IHOP for breakfast wtih Shawn. Had some really yummy food, and good conversation. After that, I headed over to the Chiropractors... and got my back/neck straightened out! What a difference that made!!! And went to class from there. Class was cool. We got to have homemade chocolate chip cookies and milk for a snack.. oh so good. And then afterwards, I went to YOUTH ALPHA!

Youth alpha is pretty much amazing. I Had a sweet group of youth and I led the table with Mr. Trainer. It was cool tho, cuz somehow, Lance (the director guy) related Titanic and Batman to Jesus dying on the cross.... Very interseting.

Today is just another day - im heading to chapel in a minute! But I am very stoked for this weekend. I am heading up to Grand Forks tomorrow!!! Till I get back, Take Care and dont eat moldy cheese.

Out in the Parking Lot

Have you ever noticed how some of your best conversations are held in the parking lot? I really think that people clued into this a while ago, and that is why we have events called “tail gate parties” where you sit on your vehicle in a paring lot/by a river and have a beer and talk about life! (While listening to country music of course) Later on these parties were enhanced with portable barbeques… and those would sit on the tail gate of a truck so that someone could stand and grill!… let me paint a picture for you:

One day you were on your way to Wal Mart and feeling very stressed out when some idiot cuts in front of you, almost causing an accident. You are trying hard to hold back the cuss words, and you give the driver in front of you the big “What” sign (that is when you put your hands out to the side and tilt your head while lipping the words “What the…”). Finally you turn off into the Wal Mart parking lot, hoping to get in and get out fast so you can continue with your stressful day. There is no parking any where near the front, so you being the long ¼ mile drive to the back of the parking lot. Suddenly this heavenly aroma hits the air in your car. It smells like… hamburgers?… Then ding the light comes on in your head and you realize that some boy scouts are probably trying to con you into buying one of their half-cooked meat patties so that they can raise money for science camp. Realizing this, you being to scout (no pun intended) out a new route so that you can avoid the “sorry I have no cash on me” speech. Unfortunately, there is no other way, so you proceed to find a parking spot. As you pass by the group of people grilling burgers, you notice that Frank from work is sitting in a lawn chair with a beer in his right hand and a hamburger flipper in the left. Then you recognize others: Rachel, Thomas, Sandra and mark. They all look like they are having fun, so you pull up a parking spot close buy and saunter over to try to figure out the reason for this ‘meeting’. The country music is booming out of Marks truck, and people are laughing, eating and dancing (some all at the same time). Sandra hand you a beer, and you sit down to wait for a freshly grilled burger. You are having such a good time that you being to wonder “Am I really in a Wal Mart Parking lot?”

So that is one of my favourite things to do. Except in the past, instead of Wal Mart, it was Hogan Park, a Truck Stop or Tim Hortons! Some dang good times had there. But I realized that I havent even dont that yet since Ive been back home. Im acutally disgusted with myself! Perhaps next week we'll do it. As for this weekend - whew its been a long weekend. All started Thursday evening with the Youth Work retreat! That was some good times. Played dutch bitz till all hours in the morning - and yep, i whooped some good Youth Worker's butt! Actually, it was cool cuz on the retreat I met a lot of new people, and that is a first for me at CBC! (Friends? really? Yep!) We played lots on trampolines.. and there was this dried up water slide that we tried to slide down standing up!

Friday was cool, I went for coffee with Steph. Later that evening Josh and Nelson came over - an hour after that Heather and Andrea showed up too! We watched Saving Private Ryan... dang sad movie. it was gross too! So they went home, and I ended up staying awake till 3:30am watching the a BETTER movie called A Good Woman. When I woke up this morning, I felt like crap cuz I slept on the couch... haha serves me right. I went for a drive with my sister to Harrison and we saw the sandcastle competitions. Also we went to this little truck stop cafe too. It was super cute. The rest of my day was spent babysitting two very cool kids and watching Little House on the Praries . Good show. Hopefully tomorrow holds for me much excitement. I should be going to Cultus Lake for a swim (berr...) then maybe talk a few certain individuals into having a "Tail Gate Party"! haha.

Well Take good Care my friendsl... and Until Next time, dont eat popcorn from a can!

Ps. No real names were acutally used in "Parking Lot" story.
