We Be Clubbin'

Hey guys, I just need to start this Blog off by, once again, expressing my concern for this "No Golfing" sign. Something has gone seriously wrong in the town of Hope that they have decided that GOLFING is a big issue. Usually the city puts out signs that say "No Littering" or "No Rollerblading" and those are very serious issues in regular towns. But why Golfing?

I was thinking about it, and maybe they have a gang problem in Hope. Perhaps there is a group of golf playing hoodlums who have nothing better to do on a friday night then play a round of golf. It puts a whole new meaing to "Clubbing" someone! I bet they all have matching golf tees too! Betcha they have banned students from wearing them at school, just like abbotsford students arent allowed to wear hats or bandanas - darn gang symbols!

Now back to reality where there are no gangs or violence in the streets. You know, Columbia Bible College - where we are all perfect! (Yea right!). But there are some definately advantages to the place. For instance, this morning after a long 8am class, I went up to the Collegium to make myself a bagel for breakfast (because I never give myself enough time in the morning to eat) and then I learned that it was "FRENCH TOAST THURSDAY".. meaning that there was free french toast for all the commuting students. Now, I am not a big fan of the toast. Mostly because people dont know how to make it right... always leaving it in the goop too long and then its soggy in the middle and the only way to get it unsoggy is to burn it.. and so on. But these ones were FANTASTIC. Topped with strawberries and whipped cream... mmm.. so good.. and so free!

While eating my fantastic french toast, I watched Regis and Kelly, where I watched a man cut apples really fast, and nascar drivers beat the world record for most pies thrown at someones face! It was all very entertaining, until some boys decided to put on the american football games! lol So I sat and watched two very crappy teams try to beat eachother (Miami and Detriot)... needless to say, I did not cheer for either; rather, I made fun of anyone who cheered at all!

You know, these weeks just seem to be flying by. No joke, its like... its already the end of the week and I feel like it just began - im not used to this. However, its not really the weekend because I am working ALL weekend, and all next week and pretty much am never gonna have a day off again! haha. All for a good cause tho - Im hoping to go to Costa Rica in April on a missions trip.. Woohoo! We'll see how that all goes, and if God opens doors for me. (He shut the last one to Costa Rica pretty hard, so im a little hesitant).

Anyhoo... Tomorrow will be a new and glorious day! I am most definately looking forward to it. Spend some time reading and stuff all day - maybe take a bubble bath or something girlie like that! I feel really girlie today cuz we just had our Pines Bible Study and it was all girls! That is a lot of girlie talk that goes on when its just girls around! HAHA especially when it is the Pines girls... Man those Pines guys dont know what they are missing! Have a good night Ya'll!

Do you have any cassette tapes?

Umm.. Dang it... I just wrote like the longest blog ever, and then it erased on me! So here we go again...

man, I really don't want to go into detail again... so you guys will have to suck it up today! Ask me for details later :P

Okay, so Saturday morning was nuts. I had stayed over at Heather's house and we had to get up early so that Andrea and I could run some errands before it was time to leave for our big adventure! The first thing we had to do was to go to my sister's house and trade vehicles with her. Now I know what ya'll are thinking... my Toyota is amazing.. However, the probability of it making the trip to Manning park and back was very slim, and so I did not want to take the chance. UNFORTUNATELY... her little white hatchback did not have a good sound system... you see - it only had a tape player. Yes, that is right.. they still have those!

The trip up to Manning park wasnt so bad. I mean, we avoided using the tape player as much as possible until the radio stopped working... so we busted out the OLD 80's country tapes and sang along. The first few tapes were not bad.. but then it just got plain ole' annoying. So by the time we got to Hope, we decided to stop at a gas station and buy a new cassette tape to listen to. The first place we went to didnt sell them anymore, and neither did the second. In fact, NONE of of the places we went to had them... it was so unfortunate. I really thought that gas stations still sold them. I was so dang disappointed.. but that all ended when I saw the snow!

We went up the the mountain as far as we could, then played in the snow for hours. I practically hurled myself down a mountain side! That was so fun, except for the fact that it was absolute torture to climb up the mountain... so I only did that once! The trip back ended us up at the Bartsch's house for dinner! Good food and good laughs all around. We ended up staying there until about 1:30am watching movies! Haha.. we first watched Anapolis and then the Scarlet Pimpernel ... and in between, we listened to Kenny and Ryley's childhood stories!

Sunday was a good day too. I was so tired from Saturday night that I acutally slept through the entire sermon at church. I felt like the biggest jerk, because it was such a good one! This guy from Texas was speaking. After church, my mom dragged me around shopping for shelving... that is probably the MOST boring thing you could shop for.. correct me if you know something more boring than this. The afternoon saw me watching the Grey Cup in my very own living room. I am almost proud to say that it is the first football game that I have watched since last year's grey cup! Funny how that happens when you are a girl and practically uninterested in sports.

Tonight was fun tho. Danielle came over and we all went out for dinner (my family and some others), then I searched my room for old tapes to cruise to! I found Dance Mix 95' ... not sure if any of you guys have it.. but its basically the most amazing tape ever! I used to listen to it when I was a young hip elementary schooler. So we cruised town to this tape and totally rocked out like we were on Night at the Roxbury . Good times. Now I am tired. The picture at the top is of the random hill that i hurled myself down, the other picture that i tried to post is of this amazing sign that I saw in Hope that says "No Golfing"... who thinks of golfing in the middle of a town in a small field at an elementary school? Well take care ya'll!

Theories, Thoughts and Pomegranets!

Well, I must confess that I have misinformed you all about Bible College. Apparently people do meet their mates at bible college... Now, don't get me wrong, I am still as single as a brick without a chimney... HOWEVER, I am noticing that people are starting to hook up at school. Haha, its a funny sight acutally.. you see who they sit with in Chapel, and at lunch (not that I ever eat in the cafeteria.. but you get my drift). Its fun to watch. So, let me present my "NEW" theory about bible college..... Some People meet and get married at Bible College.

I'm afraid that I must change the topic now, even though you all OBVOIUSLY are sitting at the edge of your seats waiting for me to talk about some random boy that I have a crush on... Not gonna happen. I know that boys read this thing, and it would be inappropriate to talk about their own kind in front of them!

So I was sitting in a cold seat at the CBC vs Trinity hockey game Tuesday night when I had this thought... I understand the screaming and cheering of the fans, because the get excited, but what I don't get is how people can sit there and TALK to the players! As if the players can acutally hear what you are saying! For goodness sakes I can barely hear what they are saying when they are sitting a row away!!! But there is something about Hockey that brings out the crazy in people, and they all start talking to themselves, "Come on man, you can do it... TO THE LEFT! NO, WAIT... BEHIND YOU!"... geeze if you all think you know how to play the sport then pick up a freakin stick and play with them!

My theory of that Tuesday night was as follows: Bible College Boys don't like to wear clothes! Now, I don't know if its something that is taught in those crazy classes, but I noticed that these guys will take every opportunity to lose a piece of clothing. For example, two hockey players start to 'fight' (they were bible school boys so they weren't really fighting because they love each other, but they were acutally just showing off to the girls that they met last week in the cafeteria) and one of the boys gets his shirt pulled off... Full hockey gear exposed! I could tell that the boy was enjoying being shirtless because it took him well over 10 minutes sitting in the penalty box to put his shirt back on. THEN, on the way out, I saw two boys wrestling at the bottom of the stairs, and you guess it, they were both shirtless! For goodness sakes, ITS AN ICE ARENA! I was sporting a full winter jacket, and about 5 minutes away from mittens and a hot chocolate.

But really, Girls don't do these sort of things... (well most - we have names for girls who dont like to wear clothes) Why do guys? If it is to to impress us girls, then they arent doing it right because most of them havent been to the gym in 6 years (or ever!)... so any of you guys reading this, why dont you let me know!

So onto bigger and better things, I finally finished paper #4 of this week today. Not gonna lie, it was a good feeling to have those out of the way. The rest of the semester is full of studying and class presentations! WHOOHOO! So much easier. Oh and some reading, but that is a given. Today I tried to go to the gym and run, but half way through, some girls came in and started making a whole bunch of noice. And I figured they were just excited to see eachother, or the one guy that was in the room.. but I waited patiently for them to calm down. About 15 minutes later, the noise was louder (these are TWO girls im talking about there) and so I gave up and left. I guess im pretty lucky seeing as that was the worst part of my day!

I am eating a pomegranet right now and so Im going finish up here before I make the keyboard to sticky! Tonight should be full of laughs and good times at Bible Study!
Good day to all you readers~

Term Papers Galore!

Term paper season has begun... Thats right, I have had a week of recovery since I finished mid terms, and now it is time to write all the lovely term papers that come before all of the fantastic final exams!!! Both of which I strongly dislike. Yesterday I spent the ENTIRE day (minus a few hours) writing two term papers. But let me tell you, the second one wasnt half as good as the first...

So on Friday I got to hang out with Leanne for the day. We went out for lunch and hung out... went shopping a little. It was good times. THEN, the most amazing thing happened... I finally unpacked from camp!! That is right, I waited over two months before I unpacked... haha! Then I picked up my step-sister from the bus station. That was a gong show in itself. For starters, beacuse the highways were so snowy, it took the buses a long time to get here!!! her bus was over an hour late and I kinda just sat in the parking lot. Although, I did finally decide to go to Wal Mart for a bit once I knew where she was at. I bought one of the best movies of all times: Here on Earth. That movie makes me cry every time I watch it... and trust me, I've seen it my fair share of times. Speaking of movies, today I finally watched the rest of Pride and Prejiduce. Not that I havent seen it about a hundred times... it was nice to get to watch it again. I love Mr. Darcy... he's my favourite!!! I wish all guys were as amazing as him. (Im kidding, hes pretty stuck up in the first half of the movie... and he's not real)

Saturday found me ... wait... I cant remember what I did on Saturday. Oh wait, now I remember.. I spent the afternoon shopping and baking with my sister for her boyfriend's birthday party. That was... fun times baking. I left shortly after all of the guests arrived and went to Heather's to look at grad pictures with the ABT girls. Seems as though we were all a tab big giggly that night! haha. Some good times nontheless. I stayed the night there, and then slept in the next morning, so I didnt go to church. Instead, I went home and showered and what not. Went out for lunch with my old caregroup girls at Rendevous.

Sunday was also 'family picture' day. My family has grown in the past few years, and somehow we fit 7 peole into a tiny little space to take SIXTEEN pictures before we agreed on one!!! Haha, my family is so rediculous... someone was always making a funny face or looking off into space and so we had to retake the picture. Jeff especially... he was making funny faces the whole time. oh geeze. Then we headed out to the greek islands restaurant and had some yummy dinner to celebrate my step sister's birthday. After I got home, Danielle showed up at my door with balloons and a cake, an we watched Here on Earth again! The only problem was that she was in such a happy mood that the sad parts made her laugh. "I can't believe she would leave Josh Hartnett for a guy with a big forehead!", was what she was saying!!! I couldn't help but laugh at her.

Today is Tuesday (if you guys didnt already know that) and I have already been to class AND watched Pride and Prejiduce. How many of you can say that you did that ebfore 10:00am on Tuesday November 14?!? Well I know at least two others. haha besides me. Today is supposed to be The Simpsons marathon day in the Collegium. And so far, I dont see or hear any Simpsons being played on the TV in here. ZzZzZz I guess I could get started on my THIRD term paper of the week... What do you think? Bah, You can't comment in time anyway, I am just trying to have some audience participation. Im going to go and read some books. and wait for the simpsons to start... even though I dont really like the simpsons.

Good Day! (seriously, its a good day.)

Pavement

I was just leaving class to go to my car this afternoon, when I noticed that all the leaves had been cleaned up on the sidewalks. At first I was disappointed, because I absolutely love fall, and the colorful leaves! However, because it had rained, the leaves colored the sidewalk where they had been, so it was like little sidewalk leaf paintings! It made me feel all warm and tingly inside.

Today was one of those days that is just full of crappy events! Acutally its not so much the events, but more so the way you are feeling when those events happen. I woke up this morning feeling like I should have been shot! I did not want to get out of bed at all, but you see.. I have commitments, like driving my sister to school every morning. And I figured.. seeing as I was awake, I should go to my 8am class too! Now, if you understand this type of day, you will understand that I did not want to wear anything that could possibly be uncomfortable... so running pants and a hoodie it was! LOL, not the most attratcive outfit, but it made me feel better.

After a rediculously long morning class, I went up to the Collegium to 'study'. But before I studied, I wanted to have some breakfast. So I made a bagel and a hot chocolate. Then I realized how crappy a day it was that I didnt even want to study, but just to curl up on the couch... and then "UREKA" I walked over to the lovely tv cabinet and found Pride and Prejiduce and popped er' in... Definately love that movie! Except for the fact that I was in rediculous pain while I was sitting there, I did not want to get up and go to Chapel or even home for that matter. I wanted to just finish my movie! LOL Just my luck, they close the Collegium for chapel so that people will go. So I went down there and today ended up being a very quiet service. A guy spoke and the choir sang, and well... I slept in my chair!

Sickening, I know... I felt bad for sleeping, but man it felt good! Then I had a test in NT Survey, that I was supposed to be studying for earlier, but didnt. I don't think that I did well, but in the first half of the class, I felt like I was back in high school. Oh man, Passing notes back and forth to the person sitting beside be! It brought back lots of fun highschool memories. Except at college, they dont really get upset at you for it. I remember back in the day, the teacher would take the note from me and then read it to the class! So embarrassing, seeing as the notes were usually about someone I liked, or gossip about the latest fight in our group! Today's not was not about boys or gossip, but it was still fun.

Afterwards, Ryley came over to use my vacuum... definately one random reason to visit someone! Haha But it gave me a good excuse to skip my last class this afternoon. Its too bad that I have a freakin conscience!!! Cuz 20 mintues before my class started, I felt bad and went anyways. I was never good at skipping when I was in highschool - I always had things to do that I couldn't afford to miss. Today would have been a good day to skip, cuz all I did in class was write a letter while listening to my instructor talk about Falun Gong. WOOHOO!

I am tired now, being home and all - and really I would like to just go to bed now (well maybe throw up first.. that might be nice). But no, my better judgement is telling me to go to Bible Study tonight, and thus is where I am going! And I'll mail my letter that I wrote on the way there too. Gives me good reasons to leave my home that I'd like to hibernate in.

Speaking of hibernation, why do bears get to hibernate? I think it would be nice to get really fat, hide in a cave for 5 months and sleep! I mean it could be uncomfortable, not being able to go to the bathroom, but at the end of the 5 months, you'll feel really good afterwards! haha! You know, I heard that we think about 400 words a minute, but can only say 100 of them... so its a good thing that I dont type REALLY fast, otherwise you guys would never read this!

Take Care guys!

Oh to be an Adult!

I am just going to start this think off saying that yesterday was most definately my birthday! Yes that is right, I am officially an adult, about to be poor because I now have to pay full price at the movie theatre. I really dislike that fact, I could afford going to the movies more when I was in highschool than I can now - I didnt have to pay for my education then!!! The prices should be as follows:

  • Children under 5 should be Free (They always sleep through the movie so why should they have to pay?)
  • Children ages 5-12 should be $8 (They're parents pay for them to go so it doesnt matter if they pay a little more)
  • Youth ages 13-17 should be $10 (They either babysit or have a part time job and NO bills to pay so they can afford to spend money)
  • Young Adults ages 18-25 should be $5 (They are usually going to college and are up to they're ears in debt! Movies are possibly their only chance at life away from reading books!)
  • Adults should pay $10 (They have full time jobs and really could be doing better things with their lives other than watching movies)
  • Seniors should pay $12 (Now usually they get the discount.. but seriously, they have pensions and can afford to throw away their money!)

So there you have it... that is why I think that the movie theatres have it all wrong!!! But back to my main point.. I am an adult now, and its kinda crazy - I am not sure what I should do?!? Maybe go to Alberta, get drunk and then get married? Cuz I am old enough in Alberta to do those things. Nah, Im gonna stay here where it is safe to wait another year to drink and alope! And I am not exactly in a rush to drink either - so really it makes no difference that I am 18 now.

Now, This weekend was definately sweet. I went to the Alpha Reatreat at Rock Ridge Canyon in Princeton. Took a bunhc of youth from our Youth Alpha program and we had a grand ole' time! basically eating a lot of chocolate - which now disgusts me when I look at it. We had FIVE 750g toberlerones... and over 20 chocolate bars! PLUS we had some really good foood there. Which reminds me, I need to go for a run today!! Haha. But the weekend was a blast, I would encourage ANY of you readers out there to check out the Alpha program.

On Sunday I went to Annie's house and watched League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Pretty much the dumbest movie I have ever seen.... well besides Ultraviolet (thanks to Dave btw for making me sit through that horribly cheesy movie!). But apart from the cheesy action movie - we had some good girl talk! [girl talk is awesome! i feel bad that guys dont have girl talk]. Yesterday I didnt get much sleep. I wondered around my house for most of the morning and then went out for lunch with my step-dad. Immediately following that, I went to a music store where I played with stringed instruments for over an hour! Only leaving with these words from the salesman, "I think you should keep your guitar and maybe try to learn how to play it before you buy a banjo." HAHA I'll show him that I can play stringed instruments! (I really cant tho).

So Pretty much today was a gong show cuz I did not sleep much last night and most DEFINATELY did not want to wake up for my 8am class this morning. Which by the way.. my Galatians prof STILL doesnt know I am.. AND he spent the weekend at the same retreat as me! So silly! Crazy old man. I hung out in the Collegium a lot and read so more of that awful NT Survey textbook! Its very bland - no humor in the writing whatsoever. BLAH

Im going to depart from this computer now to get some food before I head to my next class. I hope you college students think of me next time you go to the movie theatres and pay a rediculous amount of money for a movie that you cannot afford to see more than once! (and if you are a young adult and can afford to go to the movies, perhaps you should take us college students out too! We need a break from BOOKS!!!)

F.R.O.G.

FROG - Forever Rely On God

So this weekend was a big learning sesh for me. First of all, I was super nervous about going to Camp Luther because I did not know anyone, or anything really... it was nuts. But on the way there I just decided to give it over to God and it was a friggen amazing weekend! I made some pretty sweet friends and got to know the camp and youth as well. My camp name.. (new one) was CONCUSSION I will highlight some of the events here:

Friday Night: Fog tag.. we used fog machines in the gym and kids had a picture of someone in the room that they had to tag! It was funny because the kids couldnt see a dang thing.. prob not even their own hand in front of their face!
Saturday: In the News.. we made kids find ranom things in news papers, then we had them make costumes out of the news papers.. haha then we had htem make a structure to hold up a giant pumpkin! We had some cool worship sessions and carved pumpkins all afternoon (Flutter and I separated seeds from goo for three hours!) We watched "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" at night and didnt sleep till really late.
Sunday: Packed up and said our goodbyes... all the while having REALLY yummy food!

So there you have it.. my weekend in a jar (imagine the above words in a jar). Later that afternoon I headed over to Dave's place to say goodbye before headed off to Thailand... it was sad cuz he's gone for 7 months!! After that I met up with Danielle and went to Northview to a worship service. I basically really met Jesus there. It was like the best thing I could have asked for. In the matter of two hours I felt conviction, saddness and JOY. Man I love joy very much!

Yesterday was nuts though. I thought that I would get some work done for school, but I ended up driving all over the countryside for my sister because her Commonlaw Husband (i like to call him that in hopes that they will get married) was in the hospital. Did you know that parking at the Hospital is expensive!?! oh man. I dropped lots of mula there. I also went to my pastorate last night at the O'Gorman's place. It was a good night. Apparently nobody signed up to bring dinner though.. and so we had to order pizza for like 20 people! What a gong show that was.

So basically my life is on an upward slope now.. Its been a rough couple of months and I think im seeing some good ole' light! God has been showing me a lot lately, and its very reassuring to knwo that He is still with me, even tho I slip up sometimes (well really all the time). But things are back on track, and so life just keeps getting better! PLUS WE HAD SNOW ON SUNDAY! hehe (that makes life fun and scary).

Im gonna hit the hay now - not technically, because I dont have hay to phsyically hit... nor to fall on, so its more like 'Im go to bed". Im kinda confused on how that originated... and who ever said "im gonnna crash".. as if falling asleep makes you crash.. unless you are driving, but usually people arent driving when they go to bed!
