Holy Smokes! (This one is long, Viewer discretion is advised)
I know it has been quite a few days since I last blogged and you all are probably wondering what I have been doing with my time. Well for starters, yesterday I spent 12 hours reading a book and writing a 5 page critical review on it!... so there was that day. But This weeked is more the highlight of the weekend!
Friday, I had class first thing in the morning... it was boring, but I managed to joke my way through it! (teehee) After class, I went home to pack for my weekend adventure to Heather's family cabin in Green Lake. Now, after much doddling around and stuff, and finally giving in to buying some chips (btw, the are VERY high in fat for all you dieters out there). Then we departed from Heather's house at about 1600 hrs. Andrea rode in the car with me, and in the truck ahead of us was heather and her family.
So the first problem was that I had forgotten to hook my subs back up, so pretty much the music was only half as good. But I planned on fixing them as soon as we stopped. (yea that didnt happen). Apparently I am a forgetful person. But man, was the trip long.... I mean, there is nothing like driving behind your friends parents! They think my car is a piece, so they drove slowly in order for me to keep up with them. The funny part was on the big hills, I had to take running starts so that I could make it up at a decept speed. Heather's dad was really confused why I was "trying to pass them" but it only took seconds before I was falling behind! Dang funny, I tell you.
Some other events that followed the trip up there were the exciting stop at A&W -YEAH For CUPONS!... and then the animals that we almost hit on the way. In total, there was a herd of wild sheep, a flock of birds (One got hit.. ), deer, and then of course... the cattle. Now the cattle was funny cuz they were black, and it was... well ... black out. Lets say I probably would have hit them if it weren't for the big white truck that stopped in front of me!
So here is where the real adventure begins. See, there is no real water system at the cabin, so we had to use an outhouse - well there was a toilet, but we werent sure how to use it yet. You could imagine the spiders that were in that outhouse!... haha so we didnt use it. Heather, Andrea and I pretty much had to trek out into the forrest to relieve ourselves!.. haha Acutally the next day we did get the toilet running... but then there was this tragic leaking problem where someone 'forgot' to open this latch so that the waste could go outside.... instead it pretty much just soaked the floor! Im not gonna lie, when my socks got 'wet', i wasnt sure what to think! lol
So a big part of our day on Saturday was Quading. But first we had to chop some wood!... Lets say that I kinda proved myself to be of logging ancestory. They called me "Pauline Bunion"... oh man. But it was funny cuz Heather and Andrea weren't very good at the wood chopping, whihc made it VERY funny to watch. So, we had two quads and so heather, andrea, heather's dad and me all went out to these trails. They were sweet! they had like acutal tracks and bowls and stuff that we played in. And I even got to drive! Then we headed back to the Cabin for lunch after the first quading trip. After lunch, us girls decided to take a trip down to the local corner store - pretty much the most redneck corner store i'd ever seen. They had everything from Toilet paper to chocolate, to beer! We just bought ice cream tho. Then we headed down to the lake to check out the gorgeous view. But there was something strange that we noticed about the lake....
There were these HUGE orange fist (Cant remember the name of them) and they were swimming really close to shore. My first instinct was... (well use your imagination).... fine... well I went to my car and pulled out my Gum Boots of Course!... I also grabbed a Marshmallow roasting stick and rolled up my jeans for some good ole' spear fishing! Haha. Can you say "Gong Show?"!... Dang it was funny. It wasnt long before we had Heather's brother and his friend out in the water too! Then the whole family came out and we were playing in the water with nets and knives trying ot catch these fish. We didnt get any though.
After spear fishing, heather, andrea and I took the quads out again . This time I had my own quad to drive and we played on the tracks! Good times! SO after dinner, we decided to mellow out a bit We pulled out a movie that I brought called Keeping The Faith and pretty much I didnt realize that there was some... well adult content in it!... That was embarrassing. Nothing like reccommending a bad movie to a mennonite family!... THAT I will never get to live down.
Sunday, I had to work at 1300 hrs. So I decided to head home early in the morning so that I could shower before work. It was a 4 hour drive (much faster than the way up) and pretty much, I had the most fun ever... who thought that you could road trip by yourself?! At first I was a little terrified, cuz my car was making loud squealing sounds for the first 15 minutes of the drive... but then it was okay after that!... All the gas stations in teh area were closed when I was leaving, so I prayed the whole way for my gas to make it to teh next town! Haha Some highlights of the drive were, almost hitting a deer (again) ... and then driving 140 km/h and realizing that I just passed a cop that was turing into my lane! Haha... Yeah, i didnt even get pulled over.. but my heart sure was racing.
There were a few more instances like that... like this one time, I passed a police officer on a motorcycle, and his lights were going and he was waving at me!... I slowed down and as i came aroudn the corner, I was a bunch of vehicles stopped and about 20 more police officers... My first thought was "Sh*ts going down!" lol.. then as we started to move again, i saw a HUGE rally of Bicyclists in spandex and people with cameras hanging out of van windows!... I dont think i have ever laughed that hard, by myself before! Pretty dang funny.
Anyways, to make the story short, My first day at work was pretty fun, we catered an East Indian Diabetes Seminar, and then a wedding reception... long day, but fun! So I am off to my next class! Take Care Ya'll and feel welcome to comment, cuz I like to hear feedback!
